The Penn Medicine Summer Program is modeled off of Penn Medicine first-year classes and expose students to the basics of medical training through interactive lectures and hands-on, virtual and simulated experiences. Students learn techniques of CPR and First Aid, suturing, performing skin biopsies, drawing blood, starting an IV, performing a spinal tap, minimally invasive surgical techniques, dissecting a brain and eye, and listening to lung and heart sounds. They also observe live surgeries, attend labs in pathology, microbiology and urine analysis, and visit the world-renowned Mütter Museum.
